Development of accommodation in speech and language in early language acquisition

Omnia Ibrahim was employed at the URPP Language and Space from 2018 to 2019 working on her PhD project Development of accommodation in speech and language in early language acquisition. 

Omnia Ibrahim successfully defended her dissertation, Speaker Adaptations as a Function of Message, Channel, and Listener Variability, in December 2022.

Development of accommodation in speech and language in early language acquisition

The main goal is to investigate the various social (age and gender) and situational factors, which effect the Linguistics accommodation at Human-Human and Human - Robot interactions.

Research questions:

  1. What is the role of linguistic accommodation in early language development?
  2. What are the stages of linguistic accommodation development?
  3. Do children accommodate at all, and do mothers accommodate to their children?
